EDGE is not a replacement for religious education, but a tool to help build upon the values taught in church and to help develop the skills needed to identify the ways to use those values in real world situations. Cor share their own faith journeys and show the teens that being Catholic is a great adventure. Teens who attend Edge must be registered, but parents or legal guardians can register them at the Edge Night or online.

It showed that he knew talking to us was like talking to God! After I shared what I wanted to let go of, my group prayed over me. I felt renewed: once again God was with and within me, taking away what I wanted to let go of. God still comforted me through the prayers of my group mates. I will never forget that experience. Our small group had a connection from that prayer exercise. We had just met but sharing personal thoughts and experiences made us a family.

The prayer exercise strengthened my connection with God. I feel relieved and grateful now that God will always be there for me. Not just before meals, but when I have free time. When I used to pray, it almost felt like a duty. Now, I want to do it so I can have a conversation with God. As they shift socially they are also experiencing tremendous changes emotionally and intellectually.

As they wade through all the difficulties of this time of life, they have real questions and need real answers. If parish leaders ignore the unique challenges of their middle school youth, they risk losing them forever. Those who minister to middle school youth are in the seed-planting business. Weekly sessions during the school year except when school is not in session during a particular week. The EDGE also has social and recreational activities designed to create a greater sense of community among our middle school youth and for the children to have fun and enjoy themselves in a church setting.

Occasions for middle school youth to put their faith into action through a variety of service projects. To foster a transforming spiritual experience of Jesus through the liturgy which will allow early adolescents to experience the Word of God and the Eucharist in a deeper and more profound way. To assist middle school youngsters in gaining an understanding and appreciation of what the Catholic Church teaches and believes. To identify middle school youth ministry as being a vital and visual presence within the parish community.
